It's that time of year again where we start looking into the next year ahead & create vision boards filled with dreams, goals, and images that inspire you, only to feel like you're not making progress... The amount of times I have done this year on year & made a completely aesthetic collage which by February I have forgotten about... Who else is guilty of this?
While vision boards can be incredibly powerful tools for manifestation, creating one that actually works requires more than just pinning up a few pictures and words. It takes intention, clarity, and focused action.
The majority of people set New Years goals that are the same as what they said they would do or achieve last year.. The reason we do this is because a lot of us like to feel like we are 'successful' & 'got our shit together' when in reality we aren't clear on our goals in the first place...
This year I want it to be different for you... I want you to sit for a second with your eyes closed & visualise yourself this time next year looking at your vision board that you have just made...
I now want you to imagine that everything you have put on your 2025 vision board has come true. Every single thing. You have achieved the big business goals you have set out, you have travelled everywhere you wanted to visit, experienced all the fun with your friends & family, saved the amount you wanted too, made the financial goals that you set out & achieved your dream body. THE LOT.
Sit with this for a couple of minutes..
Now I want you to ask yourself these three questions:
How does it feel to have achieved all my goals that were on my vision board? Do you feel joy, successful, sadness, love, achievement... Whatever you are feeling I want you to fully immerse yourself into that emotion & recognise not only your overall emotion but how it sits in the body.
Are my goals aligned with me? This version of you- I want you to check in with yourself & ask yourself if all the goals on the vision board were aligned with you. Every part of you.
How did I get here? What were the sacrifices that I had to take? what were my priorities?
When you have thought about these questions I want you to open your eyes & reflect on that feeling. If by achieving these goals you felt as amazing as you thought they would & they felt totally aligned with you , then I would say you are on the right track with the goals that you have set. If it didn't give you that 'fire' in your belly, that feeling of passion & excitement then I want you to go back & look at the goals you are setting for this next year.
The key to goal setting is being truly embodied with the direction in which you are trying to go! You need goals that are going to get you up in the morning, that you are excited to go out & execute! Maybe you need to stretch your goal & actually aim higher... You can achieve anything you want to in this life with the right mindset & habits. Trust me.
Tips to creating the life you desire-
Create a Visual Representation
When selecting images, choose visuals that stir positive emotions within you. Look for pictures, symbols, or even words that make you feel something—joy, excitement, pride, motivation. This emotional connection helps activate your subconscious mind and strengthens your belief that you can achieve what’s on your board.
You might include images of:
People who inspire you
Places you want to visit or live
Things you wish to accomplish
Affirmations or empowering quotes
The more aligned the visuals are with your goals and emotions, the more powerful your vision board will be.
Be Specific
It’s tempting to add broad, general images like "success," "love," or "happiness," but specificity is key. For your vision board to work, your goals must be clear and measurable. For example, instead of an image that says “success,” choose an image that represents your vision of success, like a picture of a healthy work-life balance, a career milestone, or a financial goal you wish to reach.
Be specific about your career goals, relationships, health, finances, or personal growth. The more specific you are, the more easily your brain can recognise opportunities to move you closer to your vision.
Speak as if its Already Happened- Present Tense
Instead of focusing on what you don’t want, frame your board in terms of what you do want. Visualise your life as though it’s already happening.
'I am...', 'I'm already making X amount of money', 'I am working at my dream career path'
Using the present tense helps your brain focus on what is possible now, rather than getting stuck in the gap between where you are and where you want to be. It creates a sense of immediacy, which is essential for manifesting results.
Place it where you will see it Everyday
A vision board is only effective if you engage with it regularly. Put it somewhere you’ll see it every day, like next to your desk, on your bedroom wall, or on your fridge. The idea is to remind yourself constantly of the goals you're working towards, so that they stay top of mind.
Another idea is making a digital version of your board- make it your phone background & your computer background... We look at our phone on average 2000 per day, imagine how much clearer you could be on your vision by seeing it that much!
Seeing it often helps your brain focus on these goals and stay motivated, especially when you encounter setbacks. The more your subconscious sees and believes in your vision, the more it will guide you toward opportunities that align with it.
Break It Down into Actionable Steps
You need a plan to make your goals happen... You can't just set a goal & expect it to manifest without actually making small steps in the right direction regularly.
A vision board serves as a tool for motivation and inspiration, but it’s your consistent actions that bring the vision to life. Break down your goals into actionable steps:
If one of your goals is to run a marathon, start with a training schedule.
If you’re aiming to grow your business, focus on setting small monthly targets.
If you’re looking to improve your health, outline daily habits you can commit to.
Take the time to create a roadmap that will guide you toward achieving your vision.
Be Prepared to Adapt
Sometimes the things you thought you wanted may shift, and that’s okay! Life is constantly evolving, and your vision board should evolve with you. As you grow and change, your desires might change too. Periodically update your vision board to reflect your current goals, dreams, and aspirations.
Trust that what’s meant for you will come when you stay aligned and take consistent action toward your vision, even if the details evolve along the way. The power of divine timing.
Visualise Regularly- Make your vision board part of your daily routine. Take a few moments each day to reflect on it, visualise yourself living the life you’ve created on your board, and feel the emotions associated with your success. You can even incorporate some of these practices:
Visualisation: Close your eyes and mentally walk through achieving each goal on your vision board.
Affirmations: Recite affirmations that reinforce the vision you've created.
Gratitude: Express gratitude for the opportunities and progress you’ve made so far.
When you integrate these practices with your vision board, you strengthen your belief that achieving your goals is possible.
Final Thoughts
Creating a vision board that actually works is all about clarity, emotion, and consistent action. It’s not just about pinning pretty pictures to a board; it’s about setting a clear intention, visualising your success, and making sure your actions align with your vision. If you truly commit to this process, you’ll be amazed at how much your life can transform.
